A Cameroonian soldier deployed to fight Boko Haram in the country's far north has shot dead a senior commander in the Cameroonian army before killing himself.
Cameroonian newspaper, L'Oeil du sahel, said Tsanga Ayissi, the head of the Battalion of Bonderi, a town in Cameroon's far north, was shot dead in the town of Mora on Wednesday afternoon.
The killer then shot himself dead shortly after. It was not clear what transpired.
Boko Haram, which has been wreaking havoc in Cameroon since 2014, has left thousands of people dead and hundreds of thousands displaced. Hundreds of soldiers and policemen have also paid the supreme price.
It is not clear whether some soldiers, who have been in the war front for years, are beginning to show signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) without receiving the care they need.
